Cetewayo (15151)

Cetewayo –  His sire is His Majesty (Ribot), his dam sire is Diesis (GB) and his dam’s dam sire is Pharly (FR) (Lyphard). Cetewayo raced thirty-seven times from age two to age ten. He was a multiple graded stakes winner including three grade ones. He did win in his only start at two and won one in five starts at three but his first stakes wins did not come until he was four. That year he was one of the top turf runners in the States capturing three graded stakes wins while finishing second in two others.

He only raced once at five and won, twice at six with one graded win and only had four starts at seven with only one place. He reasserted himself at age eight once again rising to the top of the US turf runners with a couple of graded victories. He was not as competitive at nine but did place in a couple of graded stakes and made one start at age ten. He ended his career with eleven wins, five places and four shows.

His pedigree is full of stamina with a dosage index at 0.78. With virtually no Northern Dancer and zero Raise a Native line sires in his pedigree that may be a good place to start. Seattle Slew, Roberto, Halo, Buckpasser, and Bold Ruler all should blend well with Cetewayo. His Majesty seemed to produce well when bred to the Nasrullah line and the Northern Dancer line. Those two lines would be good places to start.

And a bargain….

Surprisingly he has been used seven times already in the sim. Four of them have raced with the fastest speed figure being a 44. It is surprising he has been used that much but not surprising his early runners are slow. Cetewayo had a lot of stamina and he will pass that along to his offspring. He did manage to win at two but I would imagine he will not be a top two-year-old sire. He developed later in life and that will likely be true of his offspring. Cetewayo’s sire His Majesty only produced seven two-year-old stakes winners in twenty-three crops and only seventy-six two-year-old winners over all. He would be a sire I would not breed to until later in the year.
