High Chaparral – is by Sadler’s Wells. His dam sire is Darshaan (GB) and his dam’s dam sire is Kris (GB). He was never worse than third and won nine of eleven career starts. Won the Epsom Derby, Irish Derby and Breeder’s Cup Turf twice. He was a grade I winner at two, three and four. He won grade I races at 8f, 10f and 12f.
His pedigree has a good deal of stamina. Raise a Native line sires seem a good fit (Mr Prospector, Affirmed & Alydar). Seattle Slew, Roberto, and Blushing Groom line mares seem very good fits. Breeding him back to speed type sires may be popular in the Sim. Breeding back to the Northern Dancer line will also be a popular choice.
Early results appear good for High Chaparral. He has been paired with mostly top end dam sires. 18 of his 22 runners have run already on turf. He had two run 73 speed figures already one By Diesis (GB) and one by El Condor Pasa. Another seven runners ran between 57-66 speed figures. One runner has tried dirt and that was a 53-speed figure. Almost all the big names are represented as dam sires like Forty Niner, Storm Cat, Affirmed, King Mambo, Blushing Groom, Seeking The Gold and Unbridled. High Chaparral should do well as a sim sire. |
