Intergaze (AUS) (13916)

The year is coming to an end. I thought I would bring attention to another sire that should produce more of a late bloomer type runner. A durable runner that ran well pretty much from age two to age six. We go outside the states to find an Australian sire with an interesting pedigree.

Real Life- Intergaze (AUS) is by Integra (AUS). His dam sire is Temperance Hill and his dam’s dam sire is Secretariat. Intergaze has plenty of stamina with a 1.55 dosage index. He did his best running between eight and ten furlongs on the turf during his career. He ran forty-nine times in his career that saw him run from age two to age six. He won twelve times including seven grade I wins including the Australian Cup. He earned 3.7 million at the track showing a knack for showing up in the big races. He has sired a couple of stakes winners thus far with Noble Gaze and Gaze On.

The sire side of his pedigree may seem obscure. His sire Integra traces back to Tom Fool the sire of Buckpasser. There are some solid older bloodlines on the sire side as well like Hyperion and Crepello. The dam side is very American with Temperance Hill and Secretariat. It is an interesting blend that should pair up well with many bloodlines.

Sim Life – Intergaze has twenty-three sim runners. Not a lot of talent in his older runners. #39074 Vain Luck (AUS) has run a couple of races recently that suggest he may have some talent. His runners have better average speed figures on dirt but his most useful runners appear to prefer the turf. There are a few others that have been decent claimers but nothing inspiring.

He has produced only six two-year-old runners so far this year. Three of them have run 70 or better speed figures. His best runner looks very solid. #4472 Gazehound (AUS) broke his maiden on turf at a mile with an 89-speed figure. His other two decent two-year-olds are by good dam sires, Sunday Silence and Gulch, but have been better on dirt thus far.

Breeding Suggestions – I think there is untapped potential here. I think there are many different sire lines that could blend well I will keep my focus on three sire lines. Northern Dancer, Ribot, and Nasrullah. In using these sire lines I will be looking for turf influenced sires. Northern Dancer gives us many choices through Danzig, Sadler’s Wells, Lyphard, Nijinsky and Nureyev. Through Nasrullah I will look for sires through Never Bend or Red God. Any sires through Ribot should blend well with all of the above.

I am not dismissing other sire lines I just think these three will narrow the search a bit and provide us with combinations that I think will work.  Seattle Slew, Damascus, In Reality and Raise a Native all seem to be good fits as well I just think I can be a little more turfy using Northern Dancer, Ribot, and Nasrullah.

Bargain Bred – Intergaze gets down into the mid 50’s BP wise by the end of the week and could be good bargain bred. Again I think I will stick to the same three sire lines I have mentioned above but here is where you can experiment a little more.

Intergaze (AUS) (13916) X Manzotti (3799) X Morston (FR) (4092)

Intergaze (AUS) (13916) X River Crest (5337) X Moscow Ballet (4094)

What to Expect – In real life Intergaze ran well from two to six. His progeny are solid at two but the comments I have read indicate his runners will take a little time and prefer a route of ground. His runners may run as well on dirt as they do turf so be sure to try both surfaces. Stretch him out. He ran well over a mile and his real life offspring seem to be getting better as they run farther. If you space his races out a bit you could have a useful runner for several years.
