Regal Classic (5224)

This week we focus on a very solid producer currently standing in New York. Regal Classic will be twenty years old this year so probably not a whole more crops in his future. A very intriguing sire that is fast becoming a top-notch dam sire to go along with his production as a sire. He is a bit overlooked in the sim despite producing some very solid runners.

Real Life- Regal Classic is by Vice Regent. His dam sire is No Double and his dam’s dam sire is Outing Class. Regal Classic was a very solid racehorse. He was named Champion two-year-old in Canada. He finished second in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile that year. He would go one to win stakes races at three and four becoming a very consistent performer.

As a sire he has produced very consistently. His crops do very well nearly always placing near the top of sires standing in New York. He spent some time as a dual hemisphere sire is Australia. Currently Regal Roller (AUS) is doing pretty well with a few stakes wins. Inish Glora has been named Canadian Champion Turf Female for the last two years. One Way Love was Canadian Champion Older Horse and Sprinter in 2000.

In real life he has nicked well with Geiger Counter, Dom Alaric (FR), Affirmed, Halo, Conquistador Cielo, and Raise a Native.

Sim Life – Regal Classic has fifty-nine sim runners. Three of those fifty-nine are graded stakes winners. However all three are past their prime. He has another four stakes winners all past their prime as well. When you look up his retired runners you will find another four stakes winners. His last two sim crops however have not produced any stakes winners despite him being bred to some nice mares and having success in real life. He has been much better producing dirt runners in the sim but he should be able to produce good turf runner

In his active sim runners that have won stakes Nasrullah is in every single pedigree. Robot and Turn-To have blended well with Regal Classic as well. Sons of Mr. Prospector that are inbred to Nasrullah have been effective as well like Forty Niner. He has nicked well in real life with those type dam sires as well in Geiger Counter, and Conquistador Cielo.

Breeding Suggestions – There are several similarities between his real life successful nicks and his sim successful nicks. From Mr. Prospector line sires Forty Niner, Conquistador Cielo, Geiger Counter, and Gone West would make solid choices. Raise a Native and his son Affirmed would be solid choices. Halo or any of his son’s would seem to make solid choices. Other sires that might make solid dam sires are Riverman, Blushing Groom (FR), or Mill Reef.

There are also several Mr. Prospector sons that blend a couple of the other sire lines together that could make solid matches. Silver Ghost, Carson City, or Machavellian. Inbreeding to Northern Dancer with Regal Classic has not worked.

Bargain Bred –  Regal Classic gets down into the mid forties by the end of the week. There should be many bargain dam sires to pair him with as well. Using sires along the same lines as discussed above.

What to Expect – Regal Classic ran well at ages two three and four. His two-year-old year was probably his best. His real life runners tend to develop a little later but he should produce solid two year olds. He does not have a ton of stamina so his runners seem best suited from 5f-9f. So far he has produced much better on dirt than turf in both the sim and real life. Even so if his runners seem flat on dirt switch them over to the turf.
