BARGAIN BRED RACING SERIES & BREEDING CORNER

Sand Ridge (15268)

Sand Ridge is the next and last of the obscure freshman sires. Sand Ridge is by Known Fact (In Reality). His dam sire is Spend a Buck (Buckpasser) and his dam’s dam sire is Exclusive Native (Raise a Native).  Sand Ridge remained sound his entire fifty-nine start career. He won seventeen times, placed seven times and showed another seventeen times. He had a long racing career and was a multiple stakes winner from six furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth. He placed in a couple of graded stakes as well.

He only has one sim runner to date. Sand Ridge’s pedigree is on the speedy side but he was able to carry that speed over a mile. In Reality lines have blended well with Seattle Slew lines traditionally. Northern Dancer, Mr. Prospector, Halo, Bold Ruler, Roberto would all blend well with Sand Ridge. Sand Ridge will likely produce some solid sprinters and some good sprint dam sires are Phone Trick, Marquetry, Holy Bull, and Mr. Greely.

Sand Ridge (15268) X  Marquetry (3839) X Bold Ruler (735)

Sand Ridge (15268) X Royal Academy (5451) X Affirmed (83)

And a bargain…

Sand Ridge (15268) X Zafonic (7242) X Salt Dome (5559)

Sand Ridge could be a closet turf sire. His family tree on his dam side has strong turf ties. His runners should be the durable type that will more than likely like to sprint on the dirt. With a little of stamina added to his runners you should get a versatile runner capable of getting a mile and more. His two year olds could be good but he was a late bloomer so his progeny may be the same.
