Snappy Landing (11583)

By request I bring you Snappy Landing. He is another of many I am sure to encounter that information is tough to come by. It has been a while since I have covered a sire more inclined to produce a sprinter. Snappy Landing has produced some solid sim runners.

Real Life- Snappy Landing is by Northrop. His dam sire is First Landing and his dam’s dam sire is Bold Ruler. His pedigree is suggests a lot of speed with a 7.67 dosage index. However he did most of his running in races from a mile to a mile and an eighth. He ran thirty-one times winning four, placing eleven times and showing three. He finished second in a couple of graded events. The grade I Champagne and the grade III Paterson. He also finished third in the grade I Breeders Cup Juvenile.

He has had limited real life production. He has produced a few winners but I could not find any stakes winners he had produced.

Sim Life – In the sim he has sixteen sim runners with two stakes winners. Last year #55214 Snappy Gold posted two 110 speed figures and a 108 speed figure on his way to his stakes win. #51822 Dadthirdinbcj is an old veteran now but also put up some nice speed figures. He finished second in a grade I race as a two year old.

Maybe his most solid turf runner is a three-year-old filly. #89232 I Landing has been running solid numbers in the high claiming ranks. His top two have been good dirt sprinters. He has not produced many useable turf runners. His runners should be able to run up to a mile and an eighth. I think it will be vital to breed a little stamina to Snappy Landing.

Breeding Suggestions – There was nothing in his successful runners to really give us a good indication of a solid nick. Just going by the pedigree the Mr. Prospector line would be the first place I would look or other Raise a Native sires. However that sire line has not been used in the sim except for Strike the Gold. The Nasrullah line has produced solidly through Blushing Groom with Arazi and Hazaam.

Carson City might be a very good choice as a dam sire with Mr. Prospector and Blushing Groom in his pedigree. I think the Buckpasser line would also blend well with Snappy Landing. Mining would be a solid dam sire choice with the Mr. Prospector X Buckpasser cross. End Sweep might be a good choice as well.

The Seattle Slew line might cross well with Snappy Landing. Slew O Gold might be my first choice from that line. The Buckpasser line itself has Silver Buck, Buckfinder, Buckaroo, or L’enjoleur.

Snappy Landing (11583) X End Sweep (1943) X Runaway Groom (5509)

Snappy Landing (11583) X Slew O’ Gold (5945) X Crafty Prospector (1368)

Snappy Landing (11583) X Carson City (1007) X Buckfinder (875)

Bargain Bred – Snappy Landing is a prime candidate for Bargain Breeding. He gets down around forty BPs at weeks end. There should be plenty of choices for dam sires and I think a number of Texas based sires will make good choices as dam sire and dam’s dam sires.

Snappy Landing (11583) X Texas City (6518) X Salt Dome (5559)

Snappy Landing (11583) X Marked Tree (3827) X Rare Brick (5152)

Snappy Landing (11583) X Irish Open (3036) X Lucky So N’ So (3670)

What to Expect – Snappy Landings runners should be solid runners for several years. They may tend to peak early as two and three year olds. They will more than likely prefer the dirt and should be good to about a mile and an eighth. Most of his runners though will be sprinter types.
