Wild Rush (9554)

This sire had a great year with three year olds here in the states last year. Wild Rush is a son of Wild Again who is now standing stud in Japan. He was a two time grade I winner in real life and is proving he can produce in the breeding shed as well. He is a young sire and could be on his way to becoming a big time sire.

Real Life- Wild Rush is by Wild Again. His dam sire is Plugged Nickle and his dam’s dam sire is Drone. Wild Rush was a multiple grade I winner in real life. He won eight of sixteen lifetime starts including two grade I races and earned over 1.3 million on the track. He was a top sprinter miler and even stretched his speed to a mile and an eighth.

His three year olds in 2004 were outstanding. Stellar Jayne, Hollywood Story, Wimbledon, Quintons Gold Rush, Judiths Wild Rush, and Personal Rush. All except Judiths Wild Rush were graded stakes winners last year. Judiths Wild Rush was named Canadian Champion two-year-old colt in 2003. Personal Rush raced in Japan and came over to the states for the Breeder’s Cup Classic. He looked very sharp in the paddock that day and finished sixth in the Classic. It is a shame he is standing at the very same farm in Japan that stood Ferdinand.

The sire lines that have worked best so far have been from the Raise a Native line. The Nasrullah line, and Seattle Slew line have worked well. The Northern Dancer line may not have been tried much with only a hand full of runners.

Sim Life – Wild Rush has fifty-eight sim runners. Two of those are stakes winners and one of those is a graded stakes winner. Both of those runners are old timers at age seven. None of his younger runners are stakes winners yet but some several look pretty solid. He has been bred to some very solid dam sires Dynaformer, Storm Cat, Sadler’s Wells, and El Prado (IRE). His one graded stakes winner’s dam sire is Danzig but that horse was bred before Wild Rush had any real life progeny or results. I do not believe the Northern Dancer line in the dam sire slot is the way to go with Wild Rush.

His runners have been better on dirt over all but he has produced the occasional turf runner. His runners have been good up to ten furlongs and he even has a couple that have done well beyond ten furlongs. His pedigree is such that if you breed him to speed you will get more of a sprinter. Since the Raise a Native line is one of the lines I will recommend, adding stamina in the dam’s dam sire slot will be important in order to get a runner that can get ten furlongs.

Breeding Suggestions – I think what is working in real life will work well in the sim. Raise a Native line sires from Alydar, Affirmed, Majestic Light to Mr. Prospector should all work well. The Seattle Slew line and really the whole Turn-To line should blend well with Wild Rush. In the dam’s dam sire slot an interesting sire line to use would be the Hyperion line. To be more specific a grand son of Hyperion would create 5X5 inbreeding to Hyperion.

Forli may be the most well known of the bunch but other solid grandsons of Hyperion are Greek Ship, Determine, High Line (GB), St. Paddy (GB) and Tudor Minstrel. You will need to use older dam sires in order to use most of these grandsons of Hyperion. Greek Ship for instance was born in 1947. I am not sure how many years he stood at stud but I would imagine you would need to be using a dam sire born before 1980.

Ribot, and Princequillo line sires would work well in the dam’s dam sire slot as well. Sea-Bird can be very solid stamina influence from the dam’s dam slot as well.

Wild Rush (9554) X Alydar (200) X Sea-Bird (5646)

Wild Rush (9554) X Woodman (7186) X Hoist the Flag (2812)

Wild Rush (9554) X General Meeting (2397) X His Majesty (2803)

This is an interesting combination of older sires and almost a bargain. Restless native is by Native Dancer and the dam sire of Restless Native is the legendary Bull Lea. Greek Ship is a grandson of Hyperion and his dam sire is the great Man O’ War.

Bargain Bred – Wild Rush only gets down to about 60 BPs at the end of the week. Getting a solid bargain bred from him could be a challenge but also could be worth a shot.

Wild Rush (9554) X Slew the Coup (5952) X Prove Out (5016)

Wild Rush (9554) X Kentucky Gold (3277) X Greek Ship (9207)

What to Expect – Wild Rush’s off spring should run best at age three but no reason not to think they can’t run well for quite a while. They should run well as two year olds and continue to grow. They will most likely prefer the dirt and depending on the dam sires he is capable of producing sprinter or horses that are capable of getting a route of ground.
