Wild Wonder (12031)

This week we take a look at a very solid sire that is flying way under the radar here in the sim. Wild Wonder has been producing some solid runners in real life but is hardly used in the sim. His new found success in real life will likely carry over to the sim world at some point. He was a graded stakes winner on the track and has produced a couple of graded stakes winners in real life. Let’s take a look at Wild Wonder

Real Life- Wild Wonder is by Wild Again. His dam sire is Pass the Tab and his dam’s dam sire is by Whitesburg. Wild Wonder’s dosage index is 4.14. As a runner he excelled from six furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth. He was a stakes winner at age three, four and five. He consistently competed well at the stakes level earning three graded stakes wins. He won the grade II Mervyn Leroy, the grade III long acres mile and the grade III All American Handicap.

His pedigree is an interesting mix of older less used lines on the bottom side. What has seemed to work in real life is a variety of sire lines. Bold Ruler through Spectacular Bid, really one mare by At Full Feather has produced his two best runners. Nasrullah line sires seem to blend well. Irish River has produced a couple of winners with Wild Wonder.

Wild Fit is a two year old filly that finished second the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Filly. She also won the grade I Debutante. Fusaichi Rock Star is from the same dam as Wild Fit and he won the grade II San Vicente this year.

Sim Life – Wild Wonder has just nine active sim runners. None of them are great runners but most seem useful runners. He has just two, two year olds and both look pretty sharp. In two starts one is still a maiden but has ripped off 71 and 79 speed figures. The other has eight races and has hit the board in seven of those.

Wild Wonder has a retired stakes winner that won stakes at two. He earned over $150,000 in his career. Wajima another Bold Ruler line sire. Northern Dancer, Mr. Prospector have both seemed to work along with Bold Ruler.

Breeding Suggestions – It looks like we have a few sire lines to start with. Bold Ruler seems to blend well with Wild Wonder. Northern Dancer has blended well although I like Mr. Prospector line sires more than Northern Dancer here. In Reality I think will blend well along with other Nasrullah line sires besides Bold Ruler and Turn-To so we have a whole bunch of choices.

From Bold Ruler - Blade, Chieftain, Raja Baba, Wajima, Secretariat and What a Pleasure would make good choices. The Blushing Groom line of sires would be solid choices as would be the Nasrullah sires through Never Bend like Full Out, Iron Ruler, Mill Reef, Riverman, or Torsion. In using these Nasrullah line I would breed them with stamina influences if possible so I hopefully do not get a one dimensional runner.

Bargain Bred – Wild Wonder is a very good bargain sire choice. He gets down to into the 30’s BP wise at the end of the week. I would look for a lot of the same things I did with the more expensive breedings.

What to Expect – I’m not sure Wild Wonder will be a produced of a lot of runners capable of going ten furlongs or more. I think most of his runners will be successful between six and nine furlongs and most likely on the dirt. He has had very little turf success but it would not be totally out of the question if he is paired with some turf influence. His runners are likely to mature earlier than others but the looks of the early results but he was a good runner as an older horse.
