More Seattle Slew Dam Sires

Well I cut myself short a couple of weeks back when discussing sons of Seattle Slew that make good dam sires. I want to bring to you attention two more solid in expensive sons of Seattle Slew.

Slewpy (5965) is by Seattle Slew. His dam sire is Prince John and his dam’s dam sire is Mr. Music. He has a good deal of stamina with a dosage index of 1.53. In real life he won a couple of grade I races including the Young America and Meadowlands Cup. He is the dam sire of Falbrav and Helissio both champion turf runners.

While he has a few sim runners that run well sprinting he tends to pass along some stamina to his runners. He is dam sire to fifty-one sim runners, four of which are stakes winners. His stakes winners were sired by Awesome Again, Affirmed, Meadowlake, and Distorted Humor. Only one of the stakes winners is younger than five years old. #59291 Sir American has done pretty well over the turf this year.

He has produced better dirt runners but he produces turf runners as well. It really depends on what sires you use him with.  He is only dam sire to eight two year olds. None of them have the look of a stakes winner but most of them look useful. Because he adds stamina it may take a little while for his off spring to mature.

He seems to produce equally as well when used with a Northern Dancer line sire or when used with a Mr. Prospector line sire. He is another excellent choice for using with a sire that has a Mr. Prospector X Northern Dancer cross. He has been used with Storm Cat as sire twice, and High Yield once. All three are allowance winners.  He is a bargain at the end of the week ending up around 55 BPs.

Slew O’ Gold (5945) is by Seattle Slew. His dam sire is Buckpasser and his dam’s dam sire is Hill Prince. Slew O’ Gold was an excellent runner earning Champion three-year-old colt and Champion older male honors. He won twelve races and three and a half million dollars winning such races as the Wood Memorial, Jockey Gold Cup, and he Woodward stakes. Very often when one thinks of Slew o’ Gold they think of sprinters.

In the sim he is dam sire to one hundred and eleven runners eight of which are stakes winners. His runners probably sprint best but they also run well up to ten furlongs. His stakes winners are sires by Silver Charm , Phone Trick, Miesque’s Son, Water Bank, De Niro, Rubiano, Becker, and Miswaki. Most of these sires come from the Mr. Prospector line. His runners seem to hate the turf as a whole. His fastest speed figure on turf from all his runners is a mere 105. Only one other runner has managed a 100+ speed figure on turf.

He is dam sire to twenty-six two year olds and a couple of them look very good. #41272 (Aptitude) broke his maiden in impressive fashion. #52777 (Seeking The Gold) is an allowance winner. #15979 (Silver Ghost) exploded on turf in his last race and could be the best turf runner Slew o’ Gold has produced as a dam sire. Here again Mr. Prospector line sires seem to produce well and inbreeding to Buckpasser has also seemed to work well.

As a dam sire he seems very versatile. He can produce sprinters or milers or long distance runners. He also seems to blend better with Mr. Prospector line sires than Northern Dancer line sires and don’t be afraid to inbred him to Buckpasser. He is also a bargain at the end of the week getting down to about 65 BPs.
