 Retired Mares

This has become one of the more fascinating parts of breeding here in the sim. Over the past few years I have taken a look at some of the big sim races. We break down the fields by pedigree and pay attention to those mares that are producing runners capable of qualifying for these races.

Through these articles I hope to develop a profile for retired mares that have the most success at getting runners to a high level. Will a strong female line do the same for sim runners as it does for their real life counter parts?

It was very interesting to see how many runners that have run in the past two Bluegrass Derbies were bred using a game mare. In comparison when I took a look at last years Breeder’s Bowl races it was very apparent that there seems to be a lack of retired mares capable of producing runners for certain surfaces and distances. In those races the scratch breedings dominated the entries.
